Abstract

This article explores the concept and implementation of the Lord’s Supper for youth from the perspective of John Calvin’s theology. Calvin emphasized the Lord’s Supper as a means of grace that strengthens union with Christ and fellow believers. In the context of youth, a proper understanding of the symbolic meaning of the bread and wine as the offered body and blood of Christ becomes crucial. This article discusses how the church can effectively teach and facilitate youth participation in the Lord’s Supper, taking into account their cognitive, emotional, and spiritual development. This involves emphasizing comprehensive catechesis, creating a relevant and inclusive worship environment, and emphasizing the importance of personal discernment and repentance as preparation for receiving the sacrament. In doing so, this article aims to provide theological and practical insights for the church in building meaningful and formative Lord’s Supper experiences for young people, in keeping with Calvin’s theological legacy.
