Abstract

Muntep Pengasih is one form of local culture or tradition that has developed in the city of Tomohon, especially in the Matani Satu, Matani Dua, Matani Tiga Sub-districts which are included in the service area of ​​the GMIM Nazareth Matani Tomohon Satu Region congregation. In other areas, this tradition is known as "kumawus", "maso itam", or "dumingguan". Muntep Pengasih is packaged in a form of worship that combines elements of local tradition with a contextual theological approach, reflecting the relationship between social, cultural, and spiritual aspects. This study aims to explore and understand the meaning of contextual theology in the implementation of Muntep Pengasih worship as part of a cultural heritage that needs to be preserved. The method used in this study is a participatory qualitative approach. Muntep Pengasih worship is a form of gratitude from families who are grieving for God's care, as well as a means of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood in giving encouragement to strengthen and comfort each other..
