Abstract

Loneliness is one of the psychosocial problems often experienced by the elderly, especially those living in nursing homes. Feelings of isolation, loss of meaning in life, and limited social relationships can have a negative impact on the emotional well-being of the elderly. The elderly living in nursing homes are vulnerable to loneliness due to limited social interaction, loss of loved ones, and alienation from the family environment. This condition not only affects mental health, but also the spiritual dimension of the elderly, in conditions like this the elderly often lose the meaning of life and feel useless. The study critically analyzes the role of pastoral care in responding to the experience of loneliness in the elderly, by referring to Erik H. Erikson's theory of psychosocial development, especially in the eighth stage: ego integrity versus despair. This study uses a qualitative approach using literature studies, observation results and interviews.
