Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of pastoral care based on Anton T. Boisen's approach to the problems faced by young people in the GMIM Congregation who are involved in the habit of consuming alcohol. In his approach, Boisen sees the experience of crisis as a "living book" that is open to be read and updated pastorally-theologically. Therefore, the problem of alcohol experienced by GMIM youth is understood not only as a behavioral deviation, but as a form of existential struggle that requires spiritual attention and holistic spiritual guidance. Through qualitative methods with interviews and direct observation of young people and special servants (pastors, elders, deacons), this study found that the main factors of alcohol consumption are environmental pressure, family conflict, stress, and lack of consistent spiritual guidance. By applying Boisen's pastoral approach—which emphasizes understanding the crisis as a path to spiritual recovery—special servants can act as healers of the soul (cura animarum) who provide understanding, love, and constructive direction.
